Moved to town where there are no jobs in my field - how to explain in future?

My husband and I moved to a smallish town for his job, which was financially a great decision. I figured there would be plenty of jobs in my field (advertising/marketing) but there aren't. My husband said I could take as long as I wanted off, which sounded great at first! woo hoo - vacation! :) But of course, I'm bored now and get frustrated when I look at the clified ads. In this town, the main jobs are construction, hotel maid, and outdoor labor type things. Sorry - but that's just not what I want to do. The only thing remotely close is admin positions and those are actually few and far between. I live in a military town so the military wives compete heavily for admin jobs. So....my question is this: Should I take a "for now" job like in retail or admin just for money even though it will detract from my resume? Or if I choose not to work during our time here, how would I explain the absence from working that doesn't sound like I'm just making some excuse?
