HELP 92 Chevy Astro Van. Won't run!!! Why???

first try something simple before you spend anymore money. take the center wire off of your distributor cap. touch something grounded to the frame. have some one crank it over. it wont start but it will and should spark. if it doesn't try a diffrent piece of metal touch the frame of the car. if you still get nothing you know theres a problem. that could mean a couple things like your coil is bad or could be the spark plug wires. second try to change your fuel filter.if it still wont start change the catalytic converter. that should be the reason it has no power. sorry if this doesnt help, but it should
